Darkness. Distant northern lights. Millions of stars above. Calm sea below me.
There I sat, by the quiet sea, a cup of hot chocolate in my hands. Listening, wondering, thinking. Disconnected from social media, feeling more connected; to the universe, to my life. To myself.
The more time you spend with your eyes glued to your monitor and your smartphone, the more you lose yourself. You lose the connection to you, to your thoughts, to your dreams.
So I challenge you to do something about it.
Instead of grabbing your phone every other minute to check if you’ve gotten more likes or comments; leave your phone on the table. Treat it like a simple phone that was made for calling. Remove unwanted apps that take too much time away from you. Don’t bring your phone to bedroom. Grab a book, listen to music, meditate. Don’t get wired up before trying to sleep.
Instead of spending every waking hour being connected; disconnect yourself from social media and emails. Connect with yourself. Think. Go for a run. Talk with a loved one. Those comments, likes, apps and emails will be there when you get back. If it’s urgent, people will call or text you. Nobody needs to be available 24/7.
